In my existing knowledge zeitgeist is the spirit of the times but the textbook definition of zeitgeist says that it is spirit of the age or spirit of the time is the intellectual style or dominant school of thought which symbolizes and influences the culture of a period. In terms of graphic design this means that the zeitgeist influences the design, designers and art styles according the era and what is popular in that period like in the renaissance where realism was favoured or the Greek statues, where they preferred marble, bronze and slight exaggeration of the human body.

While doing the internet research I found information on the definition of zeitgeist, information on the Zeitgeist movie which asserts a number of conspiracy theory based ideas, including the Christ myth theory, alternative theories for the people responsible for the September 11 attacks in 2001 and that bankers manipulate the international monetary system and the media in order to consolidate power. The zeitgeist movement which is a global sustainability activist group working to bring the world together for the common goal of species sustainability before it is too late.

The context helped with distinguishing between information that is relevant and irrelevant because I was searching for the definition of zeitgeist and chose what was relevant to this assignment.  The other websites information is about a movie, global movements and other topics.

Wikipedia because i found exactly what i was looking for and the Zeitgeist movie because the theme of the movie seems interesting. Zeitgeist and Zeitgeist movement are the only keywords that helped refine the search because those are the only words relevant to this topic.
